PAMELA GALLOWAY, BRIDGESTONE
I have been teaching 10 years. This will be my 7th year teaching in the Western Heights District. Currently I teach 6th grade Reading/Language Arts. My school sponsored activities include A.R. Committee, Thunder Reading Challenge, Yearbook committee, and Bridgestone Intermural Basketball Program. One of my favorite things about teaching is the relationships I get to build with my students. Being able to connect with my kids outside of the classroom, such as playing dodge ball with them in P.E., or attending one of their football games, or even connecting with their families at a school sponsored event brings an incredible dynamic into my classroom. A healthy respect for the student and teacher is fostered, and plays a vital role in the manageability of the classroom. My second favorite part of teaching is bringing humor into the classroom. My students never know what I will do next! Keeping kids smiling and involved makes for a more enjoyable and productive class time. Quite a few people influenced my decision to become a teacher. During my school years, I had several teachers and coaches that made learning fun. I was also involved in various activities that seemed to fuel my desire to connect with kids and become a factor in helping them to succeed. I live in Yukon, with my son Kade. He is 8 years old, and is the absolute light of my life. I enjoy trying new activities, and "attempting" Pinterest crafts. I have made some incredible friends at Bridgestone, and am blessed to have a job that I truly enjoy.
